About Us
Welcome to Stecklinge.at – Your shop for high-quality cuttings
After the company founder visited cannabis paradise Holland more often starting in 1983, he was fascinated by the openness and honesty there regarding the topic of cannabis. When the cannabis business really gained momentum there in the nineties, the idea matured in him to bring this industry to Austria as well. From that point on, his goal was clear: he contacted the founders of other leading hemp companies today, who at that time were still operating their companies in small garages and basements, and began to gain valuable experience. They encouraged him in his endeavor, and so in 1999 the first shop was opened in Vienna.
Our goal has always been to sell the best quality at a fair price, without incurring extra costs for unnecessary products or overpriced brands. This vision has been implemented and is being continuously expanded.
Since 2024, his son and other young, committed staff have reinforced the experienced company and are working to supply the German-speaking and European markets with plants and seeds (and soon equipment) via social media and all online platforms. It is important to us to help customers achieve the best possible results through continuous exchange, whether they are beginners or professionals.

FAQ
How are the plants shipped?
We place great importance on discreet and odor-proof shipping of your order. Our plants are first packed in sets of 6 shipping blisters, which are then wrapped in film and finally sealed in a carton to be odor-proof.
Does the transport stress the plants, and how long do the plants survive during transport?
We offer express shipping, where the plants are delivered in under 20 hours. This does not stress the plants at all and is highly recommended by us.
We also offer GLS shipping, with which the plants are typically in transit for 3-5 days (depending on the country). This is somewhat stressful for the plants, but should not be a problem if they are sufficiently watered afterwards and the lamp is dimmed to its minimum. Due to occasional delays by the shipping provider, there have been cases where plants were in transit for 7-8 days and still mostly arrived undamaged, provided that conditions were carefully managed upon arrival.
Which countries do we ship plants to?
We ship plants to all EU countries
What are the growth stages of hemp?
r goes through several developmental phases: germination, seedling phase, vegetative growth, pre-flowering, flowering, and finally harvest and drying. Each phase requires different amounts of light, water, and nutrients.
What is autoflowering cannabis and how do you grow it?
Autoflowering strains automatically switch to the flowering phase after a short vegetative period and do not require a special light cycle. They grow quickly and remain much smaller and more compact than photoperiodic plants. This makes them well-suited for windowsills or discreet outdoor grows, but less so for indoor grows. Autoflowers are more sensitive to stress and should be transplanted into their final pot or outdoors as soon as possible.
What is photoperiod cannabis and how do you grow it?
Photoperiodic strains are kept at 18h light during the vegetative phase and only enter the flowering phase when switched to 12h light. This allows them to grow much larger than autoflowering strains.
It is important that the 12 hours of darkness are not interrupted.

How to Grow Hemp in Soil
Growing in soil is the simplest and most natural method. Soil stores water and nutrients well and contains microorganisms that promote root growth. High-quality, loose soil with good drainage prevents waterlogging. For beginners, pre-fertilized grow shop soil is particularly suitable; we advise against supermarket or hardware store soils. The optimal pH value is between 5.5 and 6.8. Soil is more forgiving of minor mistakes than hydroponic systems.

How do you grow hemp in coco coir?
Coco fiber (Coco) is a popular substrate that sits between soil and hydroponics. It stores a lot of oxygen and promotes rapid root growth. Since coco contains hardly any nutrients of its own, plants must be supplied regularly with nutrient solution. Therefore, plants must be watered daily, preferably several times, with fresh nutrient solution, even if the coco is still damp. For this, we recommend using an irrigation system. CalMag additives are also important, as coco binds calcium and magnesium. The ideal pH value is between 5.5 and 6.2.
How to Grow Hemp in Rockwool?
Rockwool is mostly used in hydroponic systems. It stores water very well and enables rapid growth. Before use, it must be brought to the correct pH value. Plants in rockwool are sensitive to over-fertilization or incorrect watering. This method is more suitable for experienced growers. Especially during the rooting phase, it is important to water the substrate properly and from above, so that the entire substrate is wet.
What pests and diseases occur in hemp?
Common pests include spider mites, thrips, and aphids. Diseases like powdery mildew or botrytis often result from excessive humidity and poor ventilation. Cleanliness, good air circulation, and regular plant inspections (light magnifier, pocket microscope) help in prevention.
What is lollipopping?
Lollipopping is a technique where the lower shoots, leaves, and small flower sites are removed. This allows the plant to focus its energy on the main flowers at the top. At the same time, air circulation in the lower area improves.
What lighting does hemp need?
The hemp plant requires intense light for healthy growth. LEDs are particularly popular today because they operate efficiently and generate little heat. During the growth phase, an 18-hour light cycle is typically used, while photoperiodic plants require about 12 hours of darkness during flowering.
What pests and diseases affect hemp?
Common pests include spider mites, thrips, and aphids. Diseases like powdery mildew or Botrytis often arise from excessively high humidity and poor ventilation. Cleanliness, good air circulation, and regular plant inspections (magnifying glass, pocket microscope) help in prevention.
What does decarboxylate mean?
During decarboxylation, inactive, non-psychoactive cannabinoid acids are activated by heat. THCA is converted to THC in this process. This process is necessary if hemp is to be used for edibles or extracts.
How to fertilize correctly?
Hemp needs a lot of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, as well as trace elements such as magnesium and calcium. In the growth phase, the plant needs more nitrogen, while in flowering, more phosphorus and potassium are required. Over-fertilization can damage the plant.
When should hemp be harvested?
The right harvest time is usually determined by the trichomes. After harvesting, the flowers are slowly dried.
How to water hemp properly?
Overwatering is a common mistake, but so is underwatering. For soil, the substrate should dry out slightly between waterings. For coco, watering should be much more frequent, and the substrate should not dry out. Waterlogging can lead to root rot. The amount of water needed depends on plant size, substrate, temperature, and pot size.
Should you grow hemp indoors, outdoors, or in a greenhouse?
Indoor growing offers full control over light and climate but results in higher electricity costs. Outdoor growing uses free sunlight but is dependent on seasons and weather. Greenhouses combine natural light with better protection from weather and pests but are very problematic due to high humidity.
Should you grow cannabis from seeds or clones?
Seedlings develop strong roots and offer genetic diversity. Cuttings are exact copies of the mother plant and grow more uniformly. Those who want consistent results often use cuttings.
How does cloning work?
Cloning involves cutting a shoot from a mother plant and usually rooting it in rock wool or coco plugs. For rooting, it requires high humidity and stable conditions. Cloning saves time and ensures identical plants.
What are the best growing conditions?
Optimal conditions are temperatures between 20 and 28 °C, appropriate humidity, good ventilation, sufficient light, and a stable pH value. A clean environment and high-quality water also help with healthy growth.
When and why should you repot?
When repotting, the roots get more space and can develop better. This promotes strong growth. Repotting should only be done when the previous pot is completely rooted through (exception: autoflowering!).
How can one identify male, female, or hermaphroditic cannabis plants?
Female plants develop flowers, male plants develop pollen sacs, which open after a while and release pollen dust. Hermaphrodites develop both sexes simultaneously, often due to stress or genetic predisposition. Mostly, they start with purely female flowers, but after 3-4 weeks, the first male flowers appear and then multiply. Hermaphrodites can pollinate female plants and degrade the quality of the flowers.
What cultivation techniques are there?
Popular techniques include topping, LST, supercropping, mainlining, ScroG, and SOG. These methods improve light distribution and can increase yield.
How to recognize deficiency symptoms?
Deficiency symptoms usually appear on the leaves. Yellow leaves may indicate nitrogen deficiency, brown spots calcium deficiency, and dark leaf veins magnesium deficiency. An incorrect pH value is often also the cause.
Which deficiencies are most common in hemp?
Common problems include nitrogen, calcium, or magnesium deficiencies. Causes can be incorrect pH, over/under-fertilization, poor roots, or salt buildup. Regular monitoring of pH and EC values helps to detect problems early.
How to store and germinate hemp seeds correctly?
Seeds should be stored in a cool, dry, and dark place.
For germination, moist cloths, Jiffy pellets, or direct sowing into soil are suitable. Temperatures between 20 and 25 °C promote germination.
